Found in Borneo on mount Kianabalu in hill and lower montane forests at elevations of 900 to 1500 meters as a small sized, warm to cool growing terrrestrial with a fleshy erect stem carrying 5 to 6, grouped mostly towards the middle of the stem, ovaet to broadly elliptic, sometimes oblique, acute, 5 nerved, chartaceous, lowermost leaves distant and smaller, upppermost reduced and bract-like, cuneate below into the clasping, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the winter on a terminal, erect, peduncle .8 to 4" [2 to 10 cm] long, rachis 1.2 to 2.6" [3 to 6.5 cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescence with linear-oblong, narrowing distally, obtuse to acute, single nerved, longitudinally sulcate, just shorter than the ovary floral bracts.
