Common Name The Yellow Belt Cyrtochilum

Found in northeastern Amazonas Peru at elevations around 2400 meters as a large sized, cold growing epiphyte with caespitose, broadly ovoid pseudobulbs enveloped basally by 4 to 6 distichous, foliaceous sheaths and carrying 2 apical, obovate,a cute, conduplicate below into the subpetiolate base leaves that blooms in the late summer and early fall on an axillary, erect then wiry, to 60" [25 cm] long, paniculate, distantly few branched, 1 t ofew flowered, several flowered inflorescence with large, conspicuous, involute cucullate floral bracts and carrying stellate, showy flowers.
Similar to C macranthum but C xanthocinctum differs in the brown petals with strikingly contrasting yellow borders as well as the lateral callus keels on the lip that are more laterally spread.
