Found in Japan, Ryukyu Islands and Taiwan in shady areas of broad-leaved forests at elevations around 900 meters as a miniature sized, cold growing terrestrial with a suberect rhizome giving rise to an erect to ascending stem carrying narrowly ovate-lanceolate to ovate-elliptic, acute, subrounded at the base and contracted into a long petiolate base leaves that blooms in the late summer and early fall on an erect, rather slender, laxly few flowered inflorescence with ovate-lanceolate, shorter than the ovaries floral bracts.
