Found in Ryukyu Islands and southern Taiwan in shady humid forests at elevations of 300 meters as a medium sized, hot growing terrestrial with an ascending, stout stem carrying 4 to 6, cauline, widely spaced or sometimes clustered, not withering at blooming, obliquely elliptic to ovate-elliptic, acute, rounded below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the spring on an 8 to 14" [20 ot 35 cm] long, subdensely 10 to 15 flowered inflorescence with ovate-lanceolate, pubescent on abaxial side, acuminate floral bracts and carrying fragrant, resupinate, half opening flowers
