Found in Taiwan in broad-leaved montane forests at elevations of 1800 to 2000 meters as a small to just medium sized, cool growing terrestrial with an erect to ascending, glabrous to nearly so, stem carrying 4 to 6, simple, alternate, closely approximate, oblong to oblong-ovate, chartaceous, acute, entire margins, dark lustrous green with one central, white stripe, pale green beneath, glabrous on both sides, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the late summer and earlier fall on an erect, terminal, shortly white hairy, provided with 2 to 3 basal, ovate bracts, 5.65 to 9.8" [14 to 24.5 cm] long, 15 to 21 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, acuminate, pale purplish, villose outside, glabrous inside, much shorter than the ovary floral bracts and carrying pink tinged with brownish purple flowers that do not open widely.
