Common Name The Hollowed Out Bulbophyllum [refers to the concave basal part of the lip]

Found in Papua New Guinea in primary forests at elevations around 1800 to 2000 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with a creeping rhizome giving rise to ovoid pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, elliptic, acute to acuminate, narrowing below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the fall and winter on a basal, 5.6" to 10.4" [14 to 26 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence with tubular, much shorter than the ovary floral bracts.
Similar to B ankylochele , B rhodoleucum, B peltopus and B brassii.
