Common Name The Compressed Bulbophyllum [refers to the flattened pseudobulbs]

Found in Sumatra, Java, Borneo and Sulawesi in lowland and hilly montane forests on main branches of large trees at elevations of 100 to 600 meters as a small to medium sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with a creeping rhizome with 2 to 5.2" [5 to 13 cm] between each obovoid, flattened pseudobulb and carrying a single, apical, erect, rather thin, elliptic, medium green, abruptly narrowing below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the later summer on a basal, erect, 3.8 to 6.4" [9.5 to 16 cm] long, 18 to 30 flowered inflorescence with ovate to triangular floral bracts and carrying spicely fragrant flowers.
