Found only in New Guinea in range forests at elevations around 700 meters as a mini-miniature sized, warm growing epiphyte with small, subglobose pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, sub orbicular, obtuse, narrowing into the subpetiolate to attenuate base leaf that blooms in the summer on a few bracted, .6 to 1" [1.5 to 2.5 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence.

Schlechter states that the species is similar to B oreocharis in habit but has more elongated, caudate sepals and different shaped petals and lip. The flowers are yellowish with yellow tips to the seplas and a dark red lip with a yellow apex.
