TYPE Drawing by J J Vermeulen
Common Name The Long Inflorescence Bulbophyllum
Flower Size .2" [5 mm]
Found in Sarawak Borneo in rather low podzolic forests at elevations around 900 to 1000 meters as a mini-miniature sized, warm growing epiphyte with a clustered to short creeping rhizome with not persistent bracts giving rise to small, .32" [. .8 cm] between each, ovoid, not angular pseudobulb carrying a single, apical, erect to patent obovate, obtuse, petiolate base leaf that blooms on an erect to patent, peduncle to 1.52 to 1.72" [3.8 to 4.3 cm] long, provided with 4 bracts, rachis porrect, 1.4 to 2.2" [3.5 to 5.5 cm] long, densely, 16 to 23 flowered inflorescence with much longer than the ovary floral bracts.
"Similar to B trifolium but immediately recognizable because of the longer inflorescence [appox as long as the shoot from which they arise, including the leaf], the longer racemes (rachis 1.4 to 2.2" vs .4 to .8" [3.5 to 5.5 cm vs 1 to 2 cm] long} and the larger flowers with the lateral sepals .56 x .16" vs .2 to .38 x .48 to .72" [14 x 4 mm vs 5 to 9.5 x 1.2 to 1.8 mm]."
