Common Name The Small Forked Bulbophyllum [refers to the column wings]

Flower Size 1/4" [.6 cm]

Found in Sumatra on tree trunks and branches at elevations of 1400 to 1500 meters as a miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with a creeping rhizome and .14 to .4" [.35 to 1 cm] between each distant, ovoid, smooth pseudobulb carrying a single, apical, elliptic to ovate, mucronate, leaf at right angles to the openly conduplicate, petiolate base and blooms on a basal, erect to patent, peduncle .12 to .28" [.3 to .7 cm] long, provided with 2 bracts, rachis .24 to .28" .6 to .7 mm] long, single flowered inflorescence with tubular, acuminate, shorter than the ovary floral bracts.

Most similar to B camptochilum but this species has glabrous sepals, much narrower petals and a wider lip that is subrectangular in gerneral outline." Vermeulen & O'Byrne 2003
