Found on the lower slopes of Mount Kinabalu, part of the Croker range of Sabah, in high montane forests at elevations of 1000 to 2000 meters as a small sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte or occasional terrestrial in moss banks with ovoid pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, rather thick, elliptic, medium to dark green leaf that is cuneate below into the long petiole that blooms in the summer in situ on a basal, purple, 10 to 16" long, many [22 to 45] flowered inflorescence with elliptic to ovate floral bracts.
