Found in Minas Gerais state of Brazil in riparian forests at elevations around 900 meters as a mini-miniature [without inflorescence] sized, warm growing epiphyte with a reptant, inconspicuous rhizome giving rise to conic, apically flattened, slightly angular, clustered pseudobulbs enveloped in youth by thin sheaths soon evanescent carrying a single, erect, green, subcoriaceous, oblong, acute apically, conduplicate below into the base leaf that blooms in the spring on a basal, slightly arched, peduncle ochre colored, rigid, provided with membraneous, amplexicaul off-white, acute bracts, racemose, to 6.8" [17 cm] long, simultaneously 18 flowered inflorescence with persistent, green, triangular, very small floral bracts and carrying alternating flowers.

Similar to Bulbophyllum plumosum vegetatively but the new species differs in the smaller flowers with different coloring and structures.
