Common Name Steyermark's Bulbophyllum [American Botanist in Venezuela 20th cen]

Found in Tachira state of Venezuela, Colombia, Cusco department of Peru and Ecuador in very wet montane forests at elevations of 1200 to 2800 meters as a small sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with elongate, ovoid, slightly rugose pseudobulbs subtended by 2 scarious sheaths and carrying a single, apical, coriaceous, elliptical, obtuse leaf that is conduplicate towards the petiolate base that blooms in the summer and fall on a basal, erect, arising on a mature pseudobulb with an arching, fleshy peduncle 6.4 to 8.8" [16 to 22 cm] long, bracteate, rachis 1.6 to 3.2" [4 to 8 cm] long, , racemose inflorescence carrying many flowers held well above the leaves
Similar to B quadrisetum but differs in the larger flowers with a glabrous lip apex.
