Found in Sabah Borneo in primary forests at elevations around 900 meters as a miniature to small sized, warm growing epiphyte with ,24 to .4" [.6 to 1 cm] between each almost discoid, distinctly dorsiventrally flattened pseudobulb carrying a single, apical, erect, elliptic, acute, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the late summer and early fall on an erect, peduncle to 10.8 to 11.6" [27 to 29 cm] long, rachis nodding, .8 to 1.2" [2 to 3 cm] long, 11.6 to 12.8" [29 to 32 cm] long overall, mostly simultaneously opening, 10 to 14 flowered inflorescence with ovate, acute, shorter than the ovary floral bracts.
" Shares a concave top part of the tip with B. nigrescens Rolfe. It differs from that species in having a nodding rhachis, triangular (not spathulate) petals, as well as much longer and narrower stelidia." Vemeulen & Lamb 1994
