Found in New Guinea on thick tree trunks in forests at elevations around 1000 meters as a small sized, warm growing epiphyte with 6 to 6.8" [16 to 17 cm] between each cylindrical, glabrous pseudobulb carrying a single, apical, erect, lorate, obtuse, attenuate below into the subpetiolate base leaf that blooms in the summer on a short, .8" [2 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence with cucculate bracts.

Closely related to B grandifolium and B werneri but differs in the slender rhizome, narrower leaf, the short labellum and the column.
