Found in Sumatra, Java, Borneo and Sulawesi in lower montane forests at elevations around 900 to 2500 meters as as small sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with a short, branched rhizome with small disc-shaped, green pseudobulbs carrying a single apical, erect, linear-lanceolate, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the early summer on 1 to 2, basal, to 6.4" [to 16 cm] long, laxly 20 to 30 flowered inflorescence arising on a newly matured pseudobulb carrying well spaced flowers
This species, B coriaceum and B apodum are all very similar and all could be the same variable species.
