Common Name The Boat-Shaped Column Dendrobium
Flower Size 1.32 to 1.44" [3.3 to 3.6" cm]
Found in Sabah Borneo in lower montane forests at elevations below 1500 meters as a small sized, cool growing epiphyte with erect to spreading, simple, basal node swollen, the rest cylindrical, dark green in youth becoming reddish brown and soon sulcate stems carrying a few towards the apex, suberect to spreading, reddish maroon in youth becoming green with age, oblong, acute leaves that blooms on a hanging, short, arising from the nodes near the apex of a leafless stem, cylindrical, dark purple maroon, 1 to 4 flowered inflorescence with ovate, acute, dark purple floral bracts.
Similar species include D endertii and D lampongense but neither have a mentum that decurves to almost 90 degrees at the middle.
