Found in Sarawak Borneo at elevations around 1200 meters as a small sized, cool growing epiphyte and rarely terrestrial with elliptic, wrinkled pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, elliptic, acute, cuneate below into the deeply sulcate, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the late fall on a rather rigid, peduncle tough, 8'8" [22 cm] long, without bracts, rachis quadrangular, shallowly sulcate, fleshy, 5.6" [14 cm] long, laxly many flowered inflorescence with triangular-ovate, acute, longer than the ovary floral bracts.

similar in lip shape and column structure to D gibbsiae but differs in the broad leaves. The leaves are similar to D longifolium and the rather rigid inflorescencce is similar to . D hosei has the two lip keels aligned closely to but not united with the transversal basal ridge.
