Found on Mindanao in the Philippines at elevations around 1100 to 1200 meters as a medium sized, cool growing epiphyte with fusiform, spindle shaped pseudobulbs enveloped by elongate, tubular acute sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, narrowly lanceolate, veined, constricted apically, acuminate, obtuse to subacute, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the later spring on an erect, racemose, to 12" [30 cm] long, slender, pendulous-arcuate, several to many flowered inflorescence with linear-lanceolate, acute floral bracts and carrying whitish yellow flowers.

Similar to D glumaceum in habit but the lip is without latteral lobes and is denticulate on the margin from the base to above the middle. It is also close to D spathaceum from Java.
