Found in Sumatra and Borneo in mossy forests on sandstone at elevations of 1800 to 2250 meters as a miniature sized, cool to coldgrowing epiphyte with a short rhizome giving rise to clustered, ovoid to ovate-oblong, greenish yellow pseduobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, sulcate, linear-ligulate, obtuse, obtuse and minutely mucronate, 5 nerved leaf that blooms in the early spring on an erect, peduncle wiry, .12 to .72" [.3 to 1.8 cm] long, provided with 1 to 3, ovate-elliptic, acute bracts, rachis 1.6 to 3.8" [4 to 9.5 cm] long, quadrangular, orange colored, laxly 12 to 20 flowered inflorescence with ovate-elliptic, acute to acuminate, pale brown, longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying greenish yellow to bright yellow flowers with a yellow lip that is brown in the middle, has red keels a green column and a yellow anther cap.
