Found in Thailand, penninsular Malaysia, Java, Sumatra, Borneo and the Philippines at elevations around 700 meters as a medium sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with erect stems, the upper flower bearing part usually leafless, the middle stem is leaf-bearing and the basal internode is swollen, ovoid, 4 angled pseudobulb carrying purple flushed, elliptic, rounded apically, gradually narrowing below into the basally clasping leaves that blooms in the fall through early spring on very short, single flowered inflorescnce arising along the apical, leafless portion of the stem and carrying very short lived, fragile flowers
