Common Name The Linear-Leaved Gastrochilus In China - Xia ye pen ju lan
Flower Size .32 to .4" [.8 to 1 cm]
Found in the eastern Himalayas, Sikkim, Bhutan and south eastern Tibet on tree trunks in forests at elevations around 1600 meters as a small to just medium sized, pendent, cool growing epiphyte with a pendent, branching, slender, stem carrying distichous, well spaced, linear, falcate, 3 needle-like apical points, acuminate, leaves that blooms in the later summer on a slender, peduncle .4 to .6" [1 to 1.5 cm] long, sub-umbellate, 3 to 4 flowered inflorescence with ovate acute floral bracts and carrying small, widely opening flowers
This species is easily distinguished by the densely fimbriate margins of the lip midlobe. The often erroneously cited species G intermedius for this species has not been recorded for either Sikkim or Bhutan.
