Found in the Central African Republic, Cameroon, Congo, Zaire, Burundi, Rwanda and Uganda at elevations of 600 to 1400 meters in grasslands as a medium to large sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial with an erect, slender, leafy throughout stem carrying 7 to 10, the lower 5 to 7 erect to suberect, linear to lanceolate-linear, acute, grading smaller above, lanceolate, adpressed to the stem leaves that blooms in the spring on a terminal, erect, 2.8 to 6.4" [7 to 16 cm] long, rather loosely 9 to 30 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acuminate, shorter than the pedicel floral bracts.

"This species is very similar to H lisowskii but can be easily separated from the latter by having glabrous petals. It can be misidentified with H. ichneumonea. In the latter, however, the petal anterior lobes are widest distinctly above the base and lip is 3-lobed above the basal undivided part about .08" [2 mm] long. In B. cornutella the petal anterior lobes are widest at the base and the lip is 3-lobed nearly at the base." Kras, Oledrzynska & Szlachetko 2018
