Common Name Coultousi's Habenaria [Hong Kong Orchid Enthusiast and Discoverer of species current]- In China Xiang Gang Yu Feng Hua

Found in Hong Kong in forests along valleys in rich loam and humus at elevations around 300 meters as a small to medium sized, hot growing terrestrial with oblong, fleshy tubers giving rise to an erect, terete, slender stem carrying 3 to 4, near the middle, lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, acuminate apically, contracted below into the amplexicaul sheath base leaves and 2 to 3, bract-like leaves above that blooms in the fall on an erect, 2" [5 cm] long, 2 to 9 flowered inflorescence with ovate-lanceolate, concave, often longer than the ovary, long acuminate apically floral bracts.
Similar to H amplexicaule but it differs in the leaf venation [10 veins], rounded dorsal sepal, the short .56 to .60" [14 to 15 mm] long spur with a club-shaped apex. From H digitata It is separated by the wavy leaf margin, the broad dorsal sepal, short, clavate spur, the striaght stigmas and the prominent glands. From H macrostachya it differs in the broad, petiolate leaves, the long sepals the petals truncate and spotted with red and the red spotted spur. It differs from H stenopetals in the filifrom tip of the dorsal sepal, the anterior petals not longer than the posterior, the spur with no swelling and the clavate stigmas. It differs from Habenaria pantlingiana in the much larger flowers, a dense flower scape, sristate sepals and petals, long lip and linear spur." Barretto 1981
