Found in Nigeria on grass covered, rocky slopes at elevations of 600 to 750 meters as a small to medium sized, warm growing terrestrial with narrrowly lanceoalte to linear-lanceolate, acute, slightly recurved leaves that blooms in the late spring on a terminal, erect, rachis to 4" [10 cm] long, laxly to 18 flowered flowered inflorescence with narrowly lanceolate, cuminate, much shorter than the ovary floral bracts and carrying erect-patent, partly green, partly white flowers.
"Similar to H humilior but differing in a number of minor points. It was collected with H. limnophila Summerhayes, but not distinguished by the collector." Summerhayes 1932
