Common Name The Obovate Habenaria
Flower Size .4" [1 cm]
Found in Cameroon on upper montane slopes at elevations of 2100 to 3500 meters as a small to medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with globose tubers giving rise to and erect, rather stout, glabrous stem carrying 4 to 7, held in the lower part of the stem, oblong to linear-lanceolate, acute, erect to spreading, decreasing in size up the stem leaves that blooms in the fall and early winter on an erect, 2.8 to 5.6" [7 to 14 cm] long, rather densely many flowered inflorescence with shorter than the ovary floral bracts and carrying,. small, wide opening flowers.
"A remarkable species without any near relatove known to me. The obovate vary braod petals are also found in H epipactidea and its allies, but otherwise there is very little in common between the 2 species." Summerhayes 1932
