Common Name or Meaning The Necklace-Like Lepanthes [refers to the chain of leaves]

Flower Size .12" [3 mm]

Found in Boyaca department of Colombia in cloud forests at elevations around 2400 to 2700 meters as a small to medium sized cold growing epiphyte with pendant, repent, branching rhizomes giving rise to abbreviated ramicauls concealed by a long-spiculate lepanthiform sheath and carrying a single, apical, pendent, coriaceous, ciliate, broadly elliptical, subacute to obtuse apically, 3 veined, cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the winter and spring on an ascending, slender, .04" [1 mm] long, congested, successively few flowered inflorescence with a ciliate floral bract.

"With minutely ciliate leaves it is similar vegetatively to many other species of the subgenus. The inflorescence is a congested, successively-flowered raceme that ascends above the leaf. The red-brown sepals are ovate, acute, glabrous, widely spread, and the laterals are more or less reflexed. The petals are transversely bilobed and long-ciliate. The lip is shallowly subcordate with the apex broadly rounded and long ciliate with the basal lobes embracing the column." Luer 1994
