Common Name Andreetta's Masdevallia [Salesian missionary and Orchid Collector in Ecuador - Current]

Flower Size to 1" x 2 3/4" to 4" [2.5 cm x 7 to 10 cm]

This mini-miniature sized, warm to cool growing epiphytic species is found in southern Ecuador and northern Peru in cloud forests at 1600 to 2100 meters with blackish, slender, erect ramicauls enveloped by 2 to 3 loose, tubular sheaths carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptic, obtuse leaf with a blackish petiole that blooms on an erect to ascending, slender, 1 1/5" to 1 2/5" [3 to 3,5 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul with a floral bract carrying the long-lasting flower at or just below leaf height. This plant can be mounted so as to display the beautiful flowers at their maximum.

Similar to but differs from M ejiriana by the unwinged lip.
