Found in Tolima and Cauca Colombia in cloud forests at elevations of 3300 to 3600 meters as an ascending, small sized, cold growing terrestrial with ascending, erect to suberect, prolific, stout ramicauls with a tubular sheath below the middle and 1 to 2, tubular sheaths at the base and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, subacute to obtuse, gradually narrowing below into the cuneate petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring and fall on an erect, slender to 4.8 to 9.6" [12 to 24 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul with a tubular bract below the middle and a tubular floral bract.
