Common Name Cordero's Masdevallia [Ecuadorian President 1892-5]

Flower Size 1" [2.5 cm]

Found in Colombia, Ecuador and Peru in cloud forests at elevations of 3000 to 3500 meters as a miniature sized, cold growing epiphyte with erect, slender, ramicauls enveloped by 2 to 3 loose, tubular sheaths and carries a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, subacute leaf that is cuneate below into the slender petiole and blooms in the fall on a slender, 4" [10 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul with a bract above the base and a tubular floral bract, holding the flowers among the leaves.
