Common Name The Pot Bellied Masdevallia
Flower Size .4" [1 cm]
Found in Bolivar province of Ecuador without collection data as a mini-miniature sized, caespitose epiphyte with erect, stout ramicuals enveloped by 1 to 2, loose, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, obtuse, cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the earlier fall on a slender, arising from low on the ramicaul, with a bract below the middle, erect, 2" [5 cm] long, single flowered inflorecence and has a tubular, as long as the pedicel floral bract.
"A medium sized plant witha small flower borne by an erect peduncle about as long as the leaf. The sepaline tube is swollen towards the base by an inflated chin separated from a secondary chin by a deep transverse fold. The tails are about equal n length and a little longer than the blades. The longitudunal callus of thepetal is thin and terminates in a narrow recurved tooth process. The lip is obovate with an acute apex out of view because of an acute deflexion." Luer 2006
