Found in Puno department of Peru in scrubby and dense cloud forest at elevations around 2000 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with erect, slender ramicauls enveloped basally by 3 to 4 tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect to arching, coriaceous, fleshy, glaucous on both sides, elliptic, obtuse, basally cuneate and conduplicate in the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the late spring on an erect, purple mottled, terete, peduncle .42" [1.5 mm] long, provided with a basal tubular bract, single flowered inflorescence with an adpressed, tubular, as long as the pedicel floral bract and carrying a shallowly cupulate, fleshy flower
