Common Name Jose's Masdevallia [Ecuadorian Nurseryman Jose Portilla current]

Found in southeastern Ecuador at elevations around 1800 meters meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with slender, blackish, erect ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3 tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptic, obtuse, cuneate below into the black, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on an erect, slender, 1.4 to 2.4" [3.5 to 6 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul with a bract near the base and a tubular floral bract.
