Common Name Leonardo's Masdevallia [Ecuadorian Collector of species current]

Found in southeastern Ecuador at elevations around 1800 meters meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with stout, blackish, erect ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3 thin, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, narrowly elliptic, subacute to obtuse, gradually narrowing below into the slender, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the winter on an erect, slender, .6 to 1" [1.5 to 2.5 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul with a thin basal bract and a tubular, thin floral bract.
