Found in Ecuador and Peru at elevations of 1300 to 1500 meters as a miniature sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with stout erect ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3 tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, narrowly elliptic-obovate, subacute to obtuse, narrowly cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the summer on a stout, suberect to descending, triquetrous, 3.2 to 5.6" [8 to 14 cm] long, congested, racemose, successively few single flowered inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul with a basal bract and imbricating floral bracts
