Flower Size .4" [1 cm]

Found in Peru and La Paz department of Bolivia in wet montane forests at elevations around 2000 meters as a mini-miniature, cool to cold growing epiphyte with erect ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3 close sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, narrowly elliptical, obtuse, gradually narrowing below into the elongate, channeled petiolate base leaf that blooms in the fall on an erect, arising from low on the ramicaul, sharply triquetrous, stout, 3" [7.5 cm] long, as long as the leaf, stout, successively single, 2 flowered inflorescence with tubular, imbricating, inflated, longer than the pedicel floral bracts.

" Part of the M bicolor group, vegetatively similar but distinguished by the yellow-green flowers striped in purple, a longer sepaline tube with the lateral sepals subacute and free beyond a relatively deep secondary mentum. They are not connate into a broad synsepal beyond the tube. The petals are narrowly oblong. The lateral folds of the lip protrude beyond the margins and the epichile is triangular without verrucosities." Luer 2000
