Common Name The Minute Wing Masdevallia [refers to the small wings to the lip]

Flower Size 1" [2.5 cm]

Found in northern Peru at elevations around 2400 to 2800 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cold growing epiphyte with stout, erect ramicauls enveloped by 2 to 3 tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, thickly coriaceous, broadly elliptical, obtuse to rounded, cuneate below into the base leaf that blooms in the fall on an ascending, 1.2" [3 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence with a bract at the base, from low on the ramicaul.
