Common Name or Meaning The Patchicutza Masdevallia [A town in southeastern Ecuador]

Found in Zamora Chinchipe province of southeastern Ecuador and Peru around 1000 to 1300 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with slender, erect ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3, loose, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, narrowly obovate, subacute, cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the summer on an erect, arising from low on the ramicaul, with a bract at the base, slender, triquetrous, 4 to 5" [10 to 12.5 cm] congested, successively single flowered, racemose inflorescence with shorter than the pedicel floral bract" Luer 2000
