Common Name The Folded Back Masdevallia [refers to the reflexed apex of the lip]

Flower Size 1.6" [4 cm]

Found in northern Peru in forests at elevations around 2500 meters as a miniature sized, cold growing epiphyte with erect, slender ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3 loose, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, obtuse, cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the summer on a slender, erect, 4.8 to 6" [12 to 15cm] long, single flowered inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul with a bract above the base and a tubular floral bract.
