Common Name The Reddish Masdevallia

Flower Size 2" [5 cm]

Found in Peru and Bolivia in wet forests at elevations of 1550 to 2200 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with a blackish, erect, slender ramicaul enveloped basally by 2 to 3 tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, dark green, mottled with black beneath, elliptical-obovate, subacute to acute leaf that is cuneate into the blackish petiole and blooms on a slender, suberect to subhorizontal, 2" [5 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence with a downward facing flower occuring in the spring.
