Found in Peru, Bolivia and southern Brazil at elevations of 1200 to 2600 meters as a mini-miniature to miniature sized, warm to cold growing epiphyte with a long-repent rhizome giving rise to an ascending, suberect, stout, slightly compressed and sulcate above ramicauls enveloped by 2 to 3 tubular sheaths at the base and carrying a single, apical, spreading, coriaceous, more or less convex, suborbicular to broadly elliptical, broadly obtuse to rounded and notched apically, broadly rounded and cordate below into the sessile base leaf that blooms in the fall on a subcongested, distichous, .6 to .8" [1.5 to 2 cm] long, simultaneously 2 to 4 flowered inflorescence arising on top of the leaf through a spathe.
