Found in western Ecuador in wet montane cloud forests at elevations around 800 meters as a mini-miniature sized, hot growing epiphyte with elongate ramicauls enveloped by 2 to 3 tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, thick, coriaceous, elliptical, obtuse, abruptly narrowing below into the twisted, petiolate base leaf that blooms on short, 2 to 3 flowered inflorescence arising on the back of the leaf through a spathe at the base of the leaf
