Found in Costa Rica, Panama, Venzuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru at elevations of 600 to 2300 meters as a small to medium sized, warm to cold growing epiphyte with slender, erect ramicauls enveloped by a tubular sheath in the lower third and 2 others at the base and carrying a single, apical, suberect to spreading, coriaceous, broadly ovate, subacute to obtuse, shortly acuminate, sessile, cordate base leaf that blooms in the fall on a fascile of successive single flowers held at the leaf base and arise through a narrow spathe.
