Common Name Dressler's Pleurothallis [American Botanist in Central America 2019]

Found in Panama province of Panama on mossy limbs at elevations around 1000 meters as a mini-miniature sized, warm to cool growing, creeping epiphyte with a creeping rhizome giving rise to a single, globose to ovate, green with white reticulation, apiculate, abruptly narrowing below into the shortly petiolate base leaf that blooms in the winter, spring and summer on an erect, provided with a bract at the base, ,24" [6 mm] long, single flowered inflorescence with a tubular, acuminate, half as long as the pedicel floral bract and carrying a giant flower.
"This tiny species grows on mossy branches of wet rain forests in eastern Panama. The habit suggests other minute creeping species with round leaves such as Phloeophila nummularia Rchb. f. and Phloeophila peperomioides The minute orbicular leaves of P. dressleri are light green with darker green central and circular veins plainly visible through the thick, semi transparent substance of the blade. The hair-like peduncle lifts the comparatively huge flower well above the mat of nearly microscopic leaves. The dimensions of the flower are about twice those of the leaf." Luer 1976
