Found in Zamora-Chinchipe province of Ecuador at elevations around 2500 meters as a small sized, cold growing, prolific epiphyte with stout, erect ramicauls with a tubular sheath below the middle and 1 to 2 imbricating sheaths at the base carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, acute, cuneate below into the sessile base leaf that blooms in the late summer and fall on an erect, arising through a spathe at the apex of the ramicaul, peduncle 6" [15 cm] long, rachis 6" [15 cm] long, loose, simultaneously many flowered inflorescence with as long as the pedicel floral bracts.

"P florianwerneri is similar to Pleurothallis scabrata but differs with the long-poined sepals and petals."
