Found in Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia at elevations around 1300 to 1800 meters as a small sized, cool growing epiphyte with erect to suberect, triquetrous, ramicauls enveloped below by 2 sheaths and carrying a single, narrowly oblong, obtusely acute, round below fleshy leaf that blooms in the spring on 1 to 2, 1" [2.5 cm] long, sub-densely 5 to 7 flowered inflorescence arising through a compressed, subacuminate spathe with oblong acute floral bracts.
