Common Name Marlen's Pleurothallis [Senior authors matenal family name]

Flower Size .2" [5 mm]

Found in Cajamarca department of Peru in montane forests at elevations around 2600 meters as a small sized, cold growing epiphyte with incomplete, erect, gradually becoming sharply winged above ramicauls carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, narrowly elliptical-ovate, obtuse, sessile, cuneate and decurrent below into the base leaf that blooms in the fall on a reclining on the blade of the leaf, arising from a spathe .4" [1 cm] long at the apex of the secondary stem imbedded well above the base of the leaf, .92" [2.3 cm] long, crowded, disitchous, 4 to 6 flowered inflorescence with shorter than the ovary floral bracts.

"Similar to Pleurothallis sicula Luer & Vásquez but differs in having larger flowers, carinate sepals, fimbriate sub-auriculate petals, and obovoid lip with erose, broadly subquadrate lateral lobes. also simialr to Another similar species is P wyvern Luer & R.Escobar, which differs from A. marleniae sp. nov. in having longer flowers withthe sepals .4 x .14" [10 × 3.5 mm] vs. .2 x .12" [5 × 3 mm], obovate petals vs. oblong and oblong-obovate lip with oblique, oblong, lateral lobes vs. obovoid, subquadrate lateral lobes."
