Common Name or Meaning The Black Warted Pleurothallis [refers to the black spotted leaves]

Flower Size .2" [5 mm]

Found in eastern Ecuador and Peru in wet montane forests at elevations around 1050 meters as a mini-miniature sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with stout, erect ramicauls enveloped by 1 to 2, inflated, sheaths and carrying a single, apical, prostrate, thickly coriaceous, elliptical, subacute, green with numerous black warty spots, the base broadly cuneate into the sessile base leaf that blooms in the spring on a very short, single flowered inflorescence arising from the base of the leaf through a crested, loose spathe.

Similar to P deuterohirtzii in ed. but it differs with its smaller habit with leaves with unraised spots, instead of warts; shortly acuminate sepals; narrowly oblong petals; and a lip with greatly reduced spicules." Luer 2013
