Common Name or Meaning Oestlund's Pleurothallis [Swedish Botanist who worked extensively in Mexico 1900's]

Found in Morelos and Guerrero states of Mexico at elevations of 2250 to 2400 meters as a mini-miniature to miniature sized, cold growing, caespitose epiphyte with erect, slender ramicauls enveloped by a tubular, sheath about the middle and others near the base and carrying a single, apical, erect, fleshy coriaceous, more or less purple suffused, narrowly elliptical-obovate, subacute to obtuse, narrowly cuneate below into the subpetiolate base leaf that blooms in the summer and fall on an erect, arising through a spathe from near the apex of the ramicaul, lax, subsecund, , 2.8 to 4" [1.5 to 3.5 cm] long including the .4 to .8" [1 to 2 cm] long peduncle, successively single, few flowered inflorescence with a tubular, as long to shorter than the pedicel floral bract.
"Similar to P retusa vegetatively it differs in the shorter, fewer flowered raceme, oblong petals that are not narrowly unguiculate, and a larger lip that is not distinctly trilobed. Instead the lip is dilated and verrucose at the apex and has a pair of erect intramural lamellae near and below the middle." Luer 2000
