Found in Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru at elevations of 2100 to 2600 meters as a small sized, cool growing, caespitose epiphyte with erect, ramicauls enveloped by a brown grey, elongate, tubular sheath and another at the middle and carrying a single, apical, rigid, narrowly ellipitc, minutely tridenticulate apically, gradually narrowing below into the elongate, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring, summer and fall on a pendant, thin, pale green, arising through a dried up, scarious sheath just below the apex of the petiole, 4.8" [to 12 cm] long, few [4 to 5] flowered, racemose inflorescence with an oblique, acute, shorter than the pedicel floral bract.
This species is most related to P aggeris as both have the concave basal part to the lip and have erect sides to the basal third of the lip, but this species has a longer more narrow lip with an acute apex.
"Relatively few, large, simultaneous flowers are produced on an arching raceme. The dorsal sepal, synsepal, petals and lip are narrowly ovate and caute and the ovate lip is concave in the lwer third." Luer 1998
